Wonderful days in great weather in US. Mia hosted us in their gorgeous house in Alexandra, VA and we met her, her daughter Victoria with boyfriend and Mias husband Dave.
Our cruising friends Roger and David living in DC hosted us on a full day tour in Washington DC visiting the cherry blossom that was in full bloom, the fantastic Library of Congress, old Post Office, National Gallery of Art – had lunch, AW in their house in DC and ended up with a great dinner. Many thanks for showing us things in DC we never seen before!
We also had tickets to Air Space Museums next day before starting our journey south. One stop in Fredericksburg, VA and one in Wilmington, NC before we came to Sunset Beach.
Our hosts Mike and Kristen was in the condo when we arrived and we spent 4 days with them exploring the area including a visit to Bald Head Island, the bagle shop in Calabash, had AW with their friends at Oyster Rock, walked the beaches and had great dinner and discussions with them. Lovely people from Chicago who lets us rent their condo at Sea Trail Resort at Maples Golf course fairway nr 18.
We played all three courses at Sea Trail (Maples, Byrd and Jones) were Jimmy Biggs is the Big Boss but most of the golf we played at Crow Creek where our dear and lovely friend Jeff Davis is Golf Pro. The whole team there with Big Boss Mike Benson and his wife Nancy, Joe Jamison (one of the owners) and the rest of the staff makes us feel like we are at home. We really love Crow Creek and are so well treated. 😀
Jakob McLamb (the owner) at Meadowlands Golf Club is originally from Sweden so we brought him Swedish candy (Ahlgrens bilar, Gott & Blandat, Salt lakris and cloudberry) and he organized so we could play the course three times. Lovely!!!
In total 20 rounds of golf during our stay also including rounds at Oyster Bay, Lookwood Folly and Rivers Edge.
A lot of morning walks on the beach at Sunset Beach and multiple visits to the gym at Sea Trail. BBQ with great steaks and visits to the pool areas. Most of the dining we had at our condo.
Niklas and Ulrika came and spent two weeks with us – they lived in the big lockout that belongs to the condo. Hopefully they want to join us next year also. We all love the life at Sunset Beach. Among a lot of actives we went to the nice city Southport, NC and explored the town.
Josee, whom we met on our last cruise over the Atlantic, came from Charlotte and spent two days with us.
Our rental car (a BMW X3 from SIXT) was great and it was a pleasure to drive back to Dulles airport in Washington DC where we flew home with SAS. Thanks to SAS Eurobonus (we used our reward points) and went in Business Class both ways. Makes flying much easier!!!! 🙂
Interesting that you don´t see and hear anything of the turmoil that has been caused by Mr Trump when you are visiting US. However – people will eventually understand that a lot of things are going in the wrong direction with this guy running the country.
The plan is to go back in 2026!!
